Ruling Party Launches All-Out Offensive Against Han Dong-hoon Over Daily References to Roh... Counters With 'Responsibility for Prosecution Reform' Debate
Park Bumgye: "Responsibility for the Dismantling of the Prosecution Lies with Yoon Suk-yeol and Han Donghoon"
Han Donghoon, an independent member of the National Assembly, has repeatedly brought up the late President Roh Moo-hyun in recent days, escalating a heated exchange with the ruling Democratic Party of Korea (DPK). Assemblyman Han insists that the allegations of bribery involving Roh's family are "facts," openly disputing the DPK’s claim that the prosecution's investigation at the time was fabricated. The Democratic Party argues that Han is reviving the investigation into the late President Roh to shift responsibility for the current abolition of the prosecution service onto the DPK.
On October 6, Beomgye Park, a Democratic Party lawmaker, targeted Han during an interview on CBS Radio, saying, "Isn't he twisting the narrative to make it sound as if the Democratic Party and President Lee Jaemyung dismantled the prosecution service as an act of vengeance against the late President Roh?"

It was the historical misuse of prosecutorial power to suppress the opposition and its leaders that led to the point where the prosecution had to be dismantled." He emphasized, "This is an elaborate ploy to avoid responsibility in this blame game."
Since October 1, Han has daily referenced the bribery allegations connected to the late President Roh. The day before, Han stated on social media, "My criticism targets those of you who spoke ill of President Roh when he was alive, but after his death created and exploited a fictional myth of victimhood. In truth, President Roh himself never claimed that the prosecution’s investigation was fabricated."
In response, the Democratic Party has intensified its offensive against Han. Kwak Sangon, a Democratic Party legislator and son-in-law of the late president, said on social media, "Even I, who was either a target or defense attorney of the investigation at the time, do not know to what extent or which parts of the prosecution’s announcement and subsequent media reports were factual. Yet, Assemblyman Han has the audacity to declare that every detail of the investigation and the media reports are 'facts.' I urge him to present those facts."
Park Sungjoon, chief spokesperson for the Democratic Party, commented, "It’s the pathetic behavior of political hacks who are former career prosecutors. They insult their opponents with provocative language, then brazenly demand that those insulted prove why it was insulting. Even Goebbels would be ashamed."

Jaekyewon, a Democratic Party spokesperson, also stated, "President Roh did not personally accept a watch or money. He said he first heard about these allegations from the prosecution and naturally denied all accusations. Assemblyman Han is labeling 17 years of mourning for the late President Roh as a fabrication," adding, "There is a clear reason for Han's insults against the late president. He timed this offensive to coincide with the closure of the prosecution service. The very person responsible for repeatedly bringing groundless indictments and causing the dissolution of the prosecution is now dragging the deceased from his grave in an effort to deflect blame."
