Gyeongbuk Office of Education to Provide 485 Refurbished Computers to Three Countries Including Mongolia
The Gyeongbuk Office of Education announced on the 6th that it will provide a total of 485 pieces of IT equipment to three developing countries—Central African Republic, Mongolia, and Ethiopia—to improve the digital educational environment for students in those countries.
This year, 200 refurbished R-computers will be supplied each to the Central African Republic and Mongolia, and 85 brand-new desktop computers will be provided to Ethiopia.
R-computers are reused computers selected from units disposed of by schools and educational institutions that, after replacing parts, upgrading performance, and installing software, are refurbished for renewed use.
The Gyeongbuk Office of Education collects and refurbishes computers previously used in schools and educational institutions and redistributes them to overseas educational sites, thereby promoting resource circulation, while providing digital learning opportunities to students in developing countries.
The educational cooperation with the Central African Republic began as a private exchange and has since expanded into public education collaboration. This year, Ajin Industrial fully covered the local transportation costs for the 200 R-computers being supplied, further exemplifying the importance of public-private partnership.
The Gyeongbuk Office of Education has maintained educational cooperation with the Central African Republic, Mongolia, and Ethiopia since 2024. Including this year's planned donations, the cumulative number of IT equipment provided amounts to 1,051 units for the Central African Republic, 750 for Mongolia, and 613 for Ethiopia—a total of 2,414 devices.
The Gyeongbuk Office of Education plans to further strengthen international educational cooperation so that IT equipment can continue to support teaching and learning for students in developing countries.
