Since 2018, the Korea Securities Depository has regularly conducted the 'Unclaimed Dividend Recovery Campaign' to locate the rightful owners of unclaimed dividends. The organization has continuously provided guidance on how to check and claim unclaimed dividends. As a result, over the past five years, it has distributed about 80,300 shares and approximately KRW 4.53 billion in unclaimed dividends to the entitled investors.
This campaign is being conducted together with domestic securities firms to raise investor awareness about unclaimed dividends and help investors recover assets they may have forgotten. Each securities firm will be provided with information related to unregistered shares previously withdrawn through them, allowing the firms to guide their clients in checking for and claiming any unclaimed dividends.
This year, investor outreach has been strengthened through collaboration with four securities firms: NH Investment & Securities, Mirae Asset Securities, KB Securities, and Samsung Securities. These firms were selected based on the volume of unregistered share withdrawals and unclaimed dividend recoveries over the past ten years. During the campaign period, these four firms will actively use their own online and offline channels to concentrate on providing information about how to check and claim unclaimed dividends.
Investors who withdrew physical stock certificates from securities firms but did not transfer the title to their names can check if they have any unclaimed dividends via the Korea Securities Depository’s 'Unclaimed Dividend Inquiry Service' on its website.
