This year’s event, hosted by the Ansan Artists Association and supported by both Ansan City and the Ansan City Council, will feature 240 domestic artists and 28 international artists. With approximately 1,900 works on display, it marks the largest exhibition in the event’s history.
The theme for this year is “Industry Meets Art – Memories of the City, Landscapes of the Future.” The exhibition reviews Ansan’s journey since the Banwol Special Zone designation in 1977, which spurred its growth as an industrial city, and connects the region’s historical and cultural heritage—including the practical learning philosophy of Ik Seongho and the artistry of Kim Hongdo—to today’s industries.
Programs have also been organized where citizens can observe the art-making process and experience art hands-on. At the opening ceremony on the 13th at 5 p.m., street artist Ninbolt will create a work outdoors. Both inside and outside the venue, events will enable exchanges between artists and citizens, as well as art studio experiences exploring shifts in materials and tools, and an enamel crafts workshop, among others.
Special exhibitions of international artists will be held in Exhibition Hall 4, featuring Cubist works by Pablo Picasso and pieces by artists such as Stefano Lazzari, Rossella Basta, Darren Cook, Boogie Molly, and Yoshitomo Nara.
Visitors will be able not only to appreciate the artworks but also to purchase their favorites. The city expects that offering both appreciation and collection opportunities will enhance citizens’ access to art and invigorate the local art market.

Lee Min-geun, Mayor of Ansan, remarked, “This exhibition is a meaningful occasion to review Ansan’s journey as an industrial city through the lens of art and to collectively envision its future as an urban community. I hope citizens will have the opportunity to encounter a variety of works from Korea and abroad up close, participate directly, and enjoy art as part of their everyday lives.”
