There is a story behind A's decision to go through with a so-called "advanced maternal age" pregnancy. During China's "one-child policy," she raised an only child, but, tragically, lost her son four years ago. Living in grief after losing their child, the couple decided to try for another baby. Initially, her husband was concerned about her age and health and tried to dissuade her, but A's determination was unwavering. Just two years ago, at the age of 58, she gave birth to a son, and now she has delivered her second child, a daughter.
Regarding the critical views from those around her, A said, "In my eyes, I still look 28," and added, "I don't care about criticism from others." She went further to say, "I'm happy that my son and daughter can rely on each other and won't grow up lonely."
A family history of longevity was also a factor behind her decision to undertake another "advanced maternal age" birth. Her father lived until the age of 100, and her mother, now 94, still has good eyesight and hearing and is healthy enough to go up and down stairs on her own. Inheriting her parents’ robust constitution, A remained healthy throughout her pregnancy, continuing to handle household chores and prepare meals herself. As a result, A is confident she can be with her two children until they reach adulthood and get married.
