DP Criticizes PPP Rally: "Abandoning Audit to Protect Party Leader"
"An Anti-Livelihood Party That Values Internal Power Above the People"
The Democratic Party of Korea strongly criticized the People Power Party for holding a large-scale rally condemning the “maladministration of the Lee Jaemyung government” near Sungnyemun Gate in Jung-gu, Seoul, on October 3. The party questioned, "With the National Assembly audit just around the corner, is it really for the people that the main opposition party takes to the streets like this?"

He added, "According to reports, the People Power Party handed down a general mobilization order for this rally. Members were asked to report not only their attendance but the total number of participants as well. It cannot be said that a rally where quotas are assigned and attendance is checked represents the voice of the people."
He further criticized, "The People Power Party held the exact same rally a year ago. Once again today, instead of focusing on the National Assembly audit, the entire party took to the streets to protect the party leader."
He also said, "The People Power Party, which has not changed a bit even after a year, is a party that neither reflects nor repents. It is an anti-livelihood party where internal power takes precedence over the people."
Spokesperson Hyunyoung Shin likewise stated in a briefing that "the true intention behind the People Power Party’s unexpected rally has been revealed." She pointed out, "During the regular session period, when all efforts should be devoted to preparing for the National Assembly audit, the rally was forced through in the face of criticism, and what poured out was praise for leader Jang Donghyuck."
