146 Housing Loan Agents’ Personal Data Leaked in Hyundai Capital Hacking Incident
"No Leakage of General Customer Data or System Breach"
It was confirmed on October 3, 2026 that Hyundai Capital was also targeted by a hacking attack, resulting in the personal information of housing loan agents being leaked.
Hyundai Capital announced that at approximately 5:08 p.m. the previous day, the company detected an attack on its housing loan agent inquiry page originating from an overseas IP address.
The company explained that the attacked webpage was a public page where customers could view information about Hyundai Capital's housing loan agents.
As a result, the personal data of some of the 146 registered housing loan agents was leaked. The compromised information includes names, mobile phone numbers, email addresses, Korea Consumer Finance Association registration numbers, and additionally each agent's internal recruitment number and resident registration number.
However, Hyundai Capital clarified, "There was no leakage of general customer personal information, and there was no access to or attack on our internal systems."
Upon confirming that the housing loan agents’ personal information had been leaked externally, Hyundai Capital immediately blocked the offending IP address and the affected page and quickly formed an incident response task force to address the issue.
In accordance with relevant laws, the company reported the incident to the Financial Supervisory Service and the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) at approximately 3:30 p.m. on the same day.

Hyundai Capital stated, "We are promptly notifying all affected housing loan agents about the information breach and are conducting a thorough investigation of all publicly accessible webpages. Real-time monitoring of every webpage remains ongoing."
