Jung Jeong-sik, floor leader of the People Power Party, met with Koichi Mizushima, Japanese Ambassador to Korea, on the 2nd and stated, "Now is a time when close communication and cooperation between Korea and Japan, as well as among Korea, the United States, and Japan, are more important and solid than ever." He continued, "I hope that both countries will continue close dialogue based on mutual respect and trust, and that Korea-Japan relations will develop stably going forward."

He said, "Our two countries are close neighbors and highly important cooperation partners in the security and economic fields," and further explained, "In particular, regional security uncertainties are growing due to ongoing nuclear threats and missile provocations by North Korea, Russia’s participation in the war in Ukraine, and recent landmine provocations by North Korea in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ)."
Floor Leader Jung also highlighted the importance of exchange between the political parties of both countries. He said, "While parliamentary diplomacy between our two countries has a longstanding tradition, I hope political party exchanges will also be expanded." He added, "In particular, as mutual visits and exchanges among the leaders of major political parties in Korea, the United States, and Japan increase, trust and ties among the parties will grow stronger, which will further strengthen trilateral cooperation." He went on to say, "The People Power Party will continue its efforts for the further development of Korea-Japan relations."
Ambassador Mizushima stated, "The international situation surrounding Japan and Korea is becoming increasingly difficult." He emphasized, "Japan and Korea, as partners who share common values such as democracy, a market economy, and the rule of law, must make joint efforts on international challenges." He continued, "I am pleased that shuttle diplomacy between our two countries is proceeding smoothly and that communication is progressing well in various respects as a result."
