Wando-gun in Jeonnam Gwangju Special City is presenting a comprehensive tourism festival for the autumn season, offering visitors a chance to enjoy the flavors of its clean sea and the charms of its islands all in one place.
On October 2, Wando-gun announced that it will hold the "Clean Wando Autumn Island Tour" under the theme "Islands Dyed in Autumn, Fall in Love with Wando" for three days from the 9th to the 11th. The festival will take place at Wando Coastal Park and across major islands in the area.
This event will combine Wando’s signature specialties, such as abalone, along with other clean local foods, breathtaking island scenery, and a variety of performances and hands-on experiences, aiming to create lasting autumn memories for visitors.
Programs that spotlight Wando’s main islands are particularly eye-catching. The "Smart Digital Map Stamp Tour" is set to reward visitors who verify their visits to at least five out of fifteen major tourist destinations in Wando with Wando abalone worth 30,000 won.
Additionally, customized stay programs will allow guests to immerse themselves in the unique atmosphere of each island, including: trekking along the Nampalang-gil Trail (courses 86–88), the Wando Arboretum Green Forest Festival, Cheongsando Milky Way meeting, time at Bogildo Seyeonjeong, and Saengildo Autumn Gifts.
At the main venue, Wando Coastal Park, a tasting and sales area will offer a chance to sample and purchase Wando’s seafood such as fresh live abalone, processed abalone foods, flatfish, and seaweed at affordable prices. On-site, there will also be surprise abalone auctions and discount events, as well as a market for local specialties like loquat and citron, and a flea market with local youth and small business vendors.
The festival is also packed with activities for families. Participatory events and social media certification programs include the Autumn Beach Reading Culture Festival, Wando Island Quiz Adventure, "Be Like Choi Kyung-ju" Putting Challenge, "Find the King of Singers," and "Catch the Marine Life that Ate Abalone."
A vibrant performance lineup will be featured. On the festival's first day, the 9th, after the Bubble Magic Show and the "Autumn Island Local Wave" joint performance by local youth and artists, the opening celebratory concert at 7 p.m. will present singers Son Taejin, Jeong Dagyeong, and Hyun Jinwoo on stage. On the second day (the 10th), "Autumn Island Romantic Concert" will decorate the fall evening, featuring performances by Gilgu, Kim Giljoong, Raina, Jo Yongjoon, the FCD Dance Troupe, and the fusion Korean music band Granada.
