Public Redevelopment of 'Gwangmyeong District 7' Accelerates with 3,000 Homes as GH Signs Agreement with Residents' Representative Council
Gyeonggi Housing & Urban Development Corporation (GH) has signed a business implementation agreement with the Residents’ Representative Council for the Gwangmyeong District 7 public redevelopment project to facilitate smooth progress of the redevelopment initiative.
Under this agreement, GH, as the project implementer, will systematically undertake the overall redevelopment process, including the establishment of a maintenance plan, feasibility analysis, management of various services, formulation of implementation plans, and securing necessary approvals and permits. GH will also support the efficient operation of the Residents’ Representative Council and promote the project through close communication with residents.
The Gwangmyeong District 7 public redevelopment project is a large-scale urban renewal scheme to provide approximately 3,000 housing units on a site of about 116,000 square meters located at 270-3, Gwangmyeong-dong. The public redevelopment model involves public institutions participating in the urban renewal process and using incentives such as relaxed floor area ratio requirements to rapidly improve aging residential environments and expand housing supply.
This business implementation agreement was established to define the specific roles and responsibilities of both GH and the Residents’ Representative Council and to enable mutual consultation on major issues required for the project. Both parties plan to carry out administrative procedures and related work without delay under the terms of the agreement and to cooperate closely on key issues that may arise during the implementation process.
In particular, the agreement clearly defines not only the scope of work for GH and the Residents’ Representative Council but also the detailed procedures, including the future process for recommending construction contractors (private-sector operators). Based on this, the parties intend to actively incorporate residents’ opinions to ensure objectivity and drive in moving the project forward.
