The purpose of the agreement is to advance AI clinical trial simulation technologies.
The MOU was signed at the 'Discovery on Target 2026' event held in Boston, USA, on September 30 (local time). Discovery on Target is a global bio and pharmaceutical specialist conference that covers the entire early stages of drug development, including target identification, lead optimization, and next-generation modality development. This year, the event was held from September 28 to October 1.
BasGen Bio serves as the lead institution for the 'AI Global Big Tech Nurturing Project,' which is supervised by the Ministry of Science and ICT and operated by the Innopolis Foundation. Starting in 2025, the company has been working with Yonsei University, POSTECH, and Sookmyung Women's University industry-academia cooperation foundations to develop 'DEEPCISION,' an AI clinical trial simulation platform based on clinical twin technology.
DEEPCISION is a platform that creates virtual patient groups using clinical and various biological data to predict clinical trial outcomes. Since large-scale data training and repetitive simulations are required, computing infrastructure capable of processing large-scale computations quickly and efficiently is essential for scaling and commercialization of the technology.
Fovus, headquartered in Chandler, Arizona, is an AI-based high-performance computing company offering a serverless HPC platform that automatically optimizes the selection and operation of cloud computing resources. Fovus is a technology partner that has earned Amazon Web Services (AWS) 'HPC Competency,' and companies such as Chemspace and Japan's Komatsu are utilizing the Fovus platform.
Through this agreement, the two companies will integrate Fovus's AI-driven serverless HPC technology into DEEPCISION and jointly promote ways to reduce model training and prediction time by leveraging GPU-accelerated environments. As a result, they aim to improve the computational efficiency of large-scale data analysis and repetitive simulations, and to speed up both the platform's development and the delivery of predictive services to clients. The companies also plan to conduct joint R&D, including verification and evaluation of technology application outcomes.
BasGen Bio is gradually establishing the foundation for DEEPCISION’s practical application as part of platform development. To this end, the company is simultaneously focusing on technology advancement and exploring practical uses in the drug discovery field. This latest MOU is a continuation of that development process, and both parties will continue to collaborate based on their respective technological strengths to further enhance the completeness of DEEPCISION.
Earlier this year, BasGen Bio signed a DEEPCISION subscription contract with Cambridge Scientific Labs in Boston, USA. With the new partnership with Fovus, the company is steadily expanding its local cooperation base in the U.S. market.
