The "Asia Large Airport of the Year Award" is presented to the airport among Asian airports handling more than 30 million passengers annually that demonstrates the most outstanding strategic achievements and makes the greatest contribution to the advancement of the aviation industry.
Incheon Airport was selected as the winner in recognition of its first-place ranking in international passenger traffic worldwide in the first half of this year, supported by 25 years of accumulated transfer network competitiveness and operational capabilities since its opening.
CAPA commented, "Since its opening, Incheon Airport has set new standards in both customer experience and operational performance," adding, "Beyond serving as Korea’s gateway, Incheon Airport is expanding its role as a transit hub for the Asia-Pacific region, and its prominence in the Asia-Pacific aviation market will become even more pronounced going forward."
The corporation plans to accelerate efforts to further enhance its world-class route and transfer network competitiveness. It will expand marketing to attract new airlines operating on long-haul routes to the Americas, Europe, and India, and will actively promote interline agreements between airlines—which enable passengers to use multiple flights on a single ticket—in order to continuously broaden the base of transfer demand.
