RaonSecure, a company specializing in AI security and authentication platforms, has begun exploring digital trust services that combine artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain technology, based on mobile identification cards.

RaonSecure (co-CEOs Soonhyung Lee and Jeongah Lee) announced on October 2, 2026, that it successfully co-hosted the "2026 Blockchain & AI Hackathon" with the Global Digital Innovation Network (GDIN), which was organized by the Korea Digital Authentication Association and sponsored by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

Now in its second year, this hackathon was established to discover practical service ideas that leverage mobile IDs alongside AI and Web3 technologies, and to support the expansion of the digital identity ecosystem and its related industries. The finals were held on September 30, 2026, at Fairmont Hotel in Yeouido, Seoul.

This year's competition saw a total of 318 teams participate, representing about a 51% increase from last year's 211 teams. During the process of selecting 10 finalist teams, the competition rate reached approximately 32 to 1. The final teams were determined through a document review and in-person evaluations.

During the finals, a variety of services combining AI and Web3 were presented, based on the national mobile identification cards such as the mobile Resident Registration Card and mobile Driver's License. Ideas showcased in the fields of finance, healthcare, welfare, tourism, and content included a real-name authentication model marketplace, a UBI insurance premium auto-discount service, on-chain wallets, medical information delivery, video authenticity verification, welfare application delegation for seniors, token securities (STO), AI digital tourism wallets, independent digital signatures for people with disabilities, and AI-generated work provenance management.

The competition highlighted the potential for mobile identification cards to serve as a platform not only for personal identification, but also for verifying an individual's credentials, qualifications, and authority, and for connecting a wide range of digital services.

The grand prize went to Team "Pascal." Pascal presented a service that uses mobile IDs to verify relationships and authority among users, guardians, and social workers, and records the entire process of welfare service usage on a blockchain. The service also enables seniors to access services via phone calls, while guardians and welfare agencies can manage progress through an administrative dashboard. Based on their achievement, the team was awarded the Minister of the Interior and Safety Prize and a prize of 15 million won.

The excellence award went to Team "B301" for their project, "farmFi: An STO platform verified through mobile IDs and executed via smart contracts." Team B301 received the Korea Minting, Security Printing & ID Card Operating Corp. President's Prize and a prize of 6 million won.

The merit award was granted to three teams: "Mobiscore," "Blockchejeokhwa," and "Daily Moment." These teams received awards from the presidents of the National Information Society Agency (NIA), the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA), and the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA), along with prize money of 3 million won each.

Follow-up commercialization support will also be provided to the winning teams. RaonSecure, in cooperation with Axis Investment and UK venture capital firm simsan Ventures, will conduct a separate review for the award-winning teams and provide startup support opportunities up to a scale of 1 billion won. GDIN will assist with overseas expansion, investment attraction, and management consulting for the winning teams.

RaonSecure believes that, following this hackathon, the scope of mobile ID applications can go beyond identity verification in the public and finance sectors to include healthcare, welfare, content, tourism, and digital assets. The company especially emphasized that, as AI-powered services proliferate, digital identity technology will become increasingly important for securely verifying user identity, credentials, authority, and delegation.

Soonhyung Lee, CEO of RaonSecure, said, "This year, we saw participation from over 318 teams—a more than 50% increase compared to last year—which demonstrates the strong interest in new services that combine mobile IDs with AI and blockchain technology. RaonSecure will continue to innovate and expand the Web3 ecosystem so that mobile ID and DID technology can serve as the trust foundation for a wide range of industries and services."

Heungyeol Yeom, Chairman of the Korea Digital Authentication Association, stated, "This year's hackathon clearly demonstrated that mobile IDs can be expanded from identity verification in everyday life to the trust foundation for a variety of digital services. Going forward, we are committed to building a relevant ecosystem so that innovative ideas that combine AI, blockchain, and digital identity technologies can become actual services and industries."

Kim Jounggak, CEO of GDIN, remarked, "This year's finalist teams demonstrated a high level of completion by applying AI and blockchain technologies, based on mobile IDs, to solve real-world problems. The potential for these technologies to be commercialized was proven, as they presented practicality and scalability across areas ranging from improving accessibility to welfare services to strengthening reliability in financial transactions."

Meanwhile, RaonSecure is working to expand the digital identity ecosystem with its Web3-based digital ID platform, "OmniOne Digital ID," and open-source-based "Open DID." The company is also broadening the application of digital identity technology to include areas such as verification of identity, authority, delegation, and validation, addressing essential needs in the era of AI.
