Corporate Value Reaches $190 Billion Through Strategic Investment
Venture capital firm SBVA announced on the 2nd that it participated in the $5 billion (approximately KRW 6.8 trillion) strategic investment round of global data and artificial intelligence (AI) company Databricks.
This investment round was led by American venture capital firm Coatue, with participation from global investment companies including SBVA, Blackstone, MGX, and Sixth Street Growth. With this investment, Databricks' corporate value is now recognized at $190 billion (approximately KRW 258 trillion).
Founded in 2013, Databricks provides an integrated platform that helps enterprises manage and analyze data in one place and apply AI to actual business operations. Currently, more than 20,000 companies and organizations worldwide use Databricks. For the second quarter of the 2026 fiscal year, revenue increased by more than 80% year-on-year. The annualized revenue exceeded $7 billion (over KRW 9.5 trillion).
SBVA cited the increasing importance of technologies that enable effective data management and utilization as corporate adoption of AI continues to rise as the background for its investment. The firm highly evaluated Databricks' platform, which connects corporate data with various AI models and provides a competitive edge in the enterprise AI market.
Leveraging expertise and networks accumulated through global investments, SBVA is expanding its investments in promising technology companies in the AI sector. In the first half of the year, the firm invested in global frontier lab AMI Labs, founded by world-renowned AI scholar Yann LeCun, as well as Sierra Technologies, a corporate AI agent platform. Recently, SBVA has further strengthened its capabilities by recruiting venture partners with global investment experience and local networks.
SBVA CEO Junpyo Lee said, "As the AI industry rapidly evolves, the importance of the data infrastructure that supports its implementation in real-world business is also growing," and added, "We will actively support Databricks to grow as a key technology company driving corporate AI adoption in Korea and the Asian market."
