Eunpyeong-gu Lifts Aviation Safety Zone in Susaek-dong... Accelerates Susaek 14 District Project
Permitting Process for Urban Public Housing Complex Project to Move Forward
On October 1, Eunpyeong-gu in Seoul (headed by District Mayor Kim Mikyung) announced that, with the lifting of the aviation safety zone in the Susaek-dong area, it will begin in earnest to establish construction plans and pursue permits for the urban public housing complex project at the old Susaek 14 District (around 311 Susaek-dong).

Under the revised regulations, the Susaek Airfield has been designated as a 'helicopter-only operational base,' eliminating previous building height restrictions previously imposed on the Susaek-dong area.
The old Susaek 14 District was selected in 2021 as a leading site for an urban public housing complex project, but construction plans could not be finalized due to height restrictions. The district office has conducted an obstacle impact assessment within the aviation safety zone and, based on the results, has continuously requested regulatory improvement from the relevant military units and the Ministry of National Defense. The office explained that this lifting of restrictions is the result of those efforts.

District Mayor Kim Mikyung stated, “Since being selected as a project candidate site in 2021, progress has been hindered by height restrictions, but we can now move forward in earnest. We will expedite the permitting process so that residents can enjoy their new residential environment as soon as possible.”
