Osan City in Gyeonggi Province is accelerating stadium maintenance and operational preparations ahead of the 2027 Gyeonggi Province Disabled Sports Festival and the Gyeonggi Province Sports Festival. Approximately 16,000 participants, including athlete delegations from 31 cities and counties, are expected for the two events.
Osan City operated a promotional booth at the "20th Gyeonggi-do Disabled Sports for All Games 2026 Gapyeong" on August 28 to promote the Gyeonggi-do Disabled Sports Games and the Gyeonggi-do Sports Festival, which will be held in Osan in 2027. Provided by Osan City

Immediately after, the 73rd Gyeonggi Province Sports Festival will take place from May 7 to 9, with 25 official events and 2 demonstration events. In 2028, Osan City will also host the Gyeonggi Province National Sports for All Festival and the Gyeonggi Province Disabled Sports for All Festival.
In August, the city established three task forces dedicated to planning, facilities, and operations. Osan Sports Complex, where the opening ceremony of the Gyeonggi Province Sports Festival will be held, is currently being renovated with the replacement of natural grass and the track, and the installation of a new auxiliary track.
The swimming pool at Osan Sports Center has undergone water quality improvements and installation of certified equipment. Flooring and lighting at the gymnasium have been replaced, and renovations have been completed at the Osan Middle School Gymnasium and the tennis courts at Jukmi Sports Park. Further renovation work is also underway at Jukmi Gymnasium and the archery range.
To make up for the shortage of venues, facilities in neighboring cities and counties will be utilized. Of the 15 venues for the Disabled Sports Festival, 3 are located outside Osan, and of the 30 Gyeonggi Province Sports Festival venues, 12 are outside the city. The city is discussing operational measures with relevant jurisdictions and will inspect safety and convenience facilities according to each venue’s renovation schedule. After the competitions, the refurbished sports facilities will continue to serve as spaces for community sports activities.

The city will establish medical and firefighting systems to respond to emergencies and will expand the participation of local accommodation and dining businesses. Information on accessible facilities will be provided for disabled athletes and visitors.
Citizens will take part in the operation of the event as supporters and volunteers, and will participate in the opening and closing ceremonies and the torch relay. The city is also considering ways to link local traditional markets and neighborhood commercial districts so that visitors can tour the area before or after the competitions.
The slogan for the Gyeonggi Province Sports Festival is "Osan Shining with the Passion and Unity of Gyeonggi Province," while the slogan for the Disabled Sports Festival is "Further Through Osan! Higher with Gyeonggi!" The emblem incorporates the wings of leap, the flame of challenge, Osancheon (Osan Stream), and the initials of Osan. The city will also reveal a newly designed version of its existing mascot, "Kkasani."
