KOSPI Closes Higher on Institutional Buying Despite Foreign and Retail Selling
KOSDAQ Rises More Than 4%
The KOSPI index closed higher on institutional net buying. The KOSDAQ rose by more than 4%.
On the 30th, at the Korea Exchange, the KOSPI finished at 6,971.35, up 1.95% from the previous session.
Foreign investors and individuals recorded net sales of 548.5 billion won and 1.4306 trillion won, respectively, while institutions recorded net purchases of 334.5 billion won.
By sector, medical precision instruments rose by 5.65%, while pharmaceuticals (2.89%), electrical and electronics (2.84%), securities (2.7%), and manufacturing (2.46%) also gained. On the other hand, chemicals declined by 1.12%, with construction down 0.4% and food, beverages, and tobacco down 0.35%.
Among the large-cap stocks, S-Oil fell 7.9%. SK Innovation (-6.1%), Woori Financial Group (-4.7%), HD Hyundai (-2.4%), and Shinhan Financial Group (-2.1%) also ended lower. In contrast, LIG Defense & Aerospace jumped 6.1%, while Hanwha Systems (5.2%), Hanmi Semiconductor (4.6%), Hyundai Mobis (4%), and Mirae Asset Securities (3.8%) finished higher.

Foreign investors and institutions recorded net purchases of 227.8 billion won and 568.2 billion won, respectively, while individuals posted net sales of 776.1 billion won.
The upward trend among KOSDAQ’s major stocks was particularly notable. Samchundang Pharm surged 15.3%, and Olix (14%), Voronoi (13.3%), Jeju Semiconductor (12.6%), Dongjin Semichem (11.4%), Eugene Technology (10.9%), Leeno Industrial (10.9%), ABL Bio (10.5%), TechWing (10.4%), and Koh Young Technology (10%) also posted solid gains. In contrast, HLB fell 2%.

Kyungmin Lee, a researcher at Daishin Securities, said, "The market rebounded as institutions turned to net buying, allowing the KOSPI index to break through the 6,900 level. As investors digested major events, sectors with improved investor sentiment and earnings expectations experienced rotational rallies."
