KOSPI Turns Slightly Upward Despite Broad-Based Selling
KOSDAQ Maintains Upward Momentum
The KOSPI index reversed course and turned upward despite heavy selling by major investor groups. The KOSDAQ index also continued its upward trend.
According to the Korea Exchange on September 30, the KOSPI was trading at 6,885.41 as of 12:00 p.m., up 0.69% from the previous session.
Foreign investors, institutions, and individual investors all recorded net selling. Foreigners sold a net 686.8 billion won, while institutions and individuals sold a net 87.7 billion won and 66.6 billion won, respectively. Individual investors had been net buyers but turned to net selling at around 11:49 a.m.
By sector, pharmaceuticals rose 3.14%, while medical and precision devices increased 2.95%. Machinery and equipment climbed 1.36%, and electrical and electronics were up 1.3%. In contrast, insurance fell 1%, and chemicals (-0.93%) and financials (-0.55%) also declined.

S-Oil dropped 5.1%, while Woori Financial Group (-4.4%), SK Innovation (-3.7%), HD Hyundai (-2%), and LG (-1.7%) also fell. On the other hand, LIG Defense & Aerospace jumped 6%, Hanwha Systems rose 5%, Samsung Biologics gained 3.3%, and Hyundai Mobis was up 3%.
During the same period, the KOSDAQ index was trading at 880.55, up 2.88%.
Foreign investors and institutions showed strong net buying, purchasing 159.1 billion won and 157.8 billion won, respectively, while individuals posted 291.2 billion won in net selling.

Major KOSDAQ stocks also posted notable gains. HLB dropped 3.7%, while TCK (-0.3%) and Hugel (-0.1%) slipped as well. Meanwhile, SamChunDang Pharm surged 12.2%, with Olix up 11.9%, Padu rising 9%, Koh Young up 8.8%, Voronoi advancing 8.3%, and Dongjin Semichem increasing 7.8%.
