This shift marks a transition from the previous sole representation system under Junkoo Kim, CEO of Webtoon Entertainment and Representative Director of Naver Webtoon, to a co-leadership structure with Yongsoo Kim and Kyunam Kim as Co-CEOs. The change aims to enhance the company’s region-specific growth strategy and strengthen synergies across the organization. Webtoon Entertainment is the U.S. headquarters of Naver Webtoon.
Yongsoo Kim will maintain his existing role as President of Webtoon Entertainment while also serving as Co-CEO of Naver Webtoon. Kyunam Kim will change his position from Chief Risk Officer (CRO) to Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) at Webtoon Entertainment and simultaneously assume the role of Co-CEO of Naver Webtoon.
This leadership restructuring follows the adjustments implemented by Webtoon Entertainment in March of this year. At that time, the company created the role of President and appointed Yongsoo Kim, who had served as Chief Strategy Officer (CSO), to the newly established position. According to Naver Webtoon, "CEO Junkoo Kim will focus on long-term growth and future direction, while President Yongsoo Kim will concentrate on streamlining operations and accelerating execution." The company added, "This change reflects the extension of headquarters-level governance advancements to regional subsidiaries."
Since joining Naver Webtoon in 2018, Kyunam Kim, now Co-CEO, has led various areas as head of content policy, overseeing the creative ecosystem. He has been in charge of establishing content operation processes and guidelines, as well as launching systems to support creators.
Since joining the company in 2022, Yongsoo Kim has contributed to bolstering the company’s financial stability and supporting its successful initial public offering (IPO). As CSO and head of the global webtoon division, he has also spearheaded partnerships with leading global entertainment companies.
