Keyang Electric Machinery Accelerates Transition to Precision Motion Solutions Provider...Targeting Mobility and Robotics Markets
On October 1, Keyang Electric Machinery announced that it is expanding its product portfolio with high-performance electric vehicle motors and integrated robotics modules, thereby driving its transformation into a provider of high-value-added precision motion solutions.
Keyang Electric Machinery has built up expertise in motor design, precision machining, motion control, and mass production over the past 50 years through its power tool and automotive electrical business divisions. Recently, leveraging this accumulated know-how, the company has moved beyond supplying individual motors to expand its business scope to include high-performance electric vehicle motors and integrated robotics modules.
Keyang Electric Machinery has laid the foundation for profitability recovery in its core power tool business by improving production efficiency and reducing costs. By completing the relocation of its power tool production facilities to its Suzhou, China factory, the company has established a global production and sales system, and its ongoing cost reduction efforts have set the stage for a return to profitability.
The company is also enhancing the competitiveness of its automotive electrical products. As the number of motors applied in vehicles increases, and the demand for high-efficiency and precision control grows, Keyang Electric Machinery is expanding its lineup from traditional DC brush motors to BLDC (Brushless DC) and BLAC (Brushless AC) motors, which are characterized by high efficiency, low noise, and precise control.
In the field of robotics, Keyang Electric Machinery has begun mass production and supply in earnest under its supply contract with Hyundai Transys for DnL (Drive & Lift) modules for MobED (Mobile Eccentric Droid). Going forward, the company plans to expand its product lineup to include PnD (Plug & Drive) modules, based on the stabilization of DnL module mass production. The PnD module, which integrates driving, steering, braking, and suspension functions, can be extended to robotics sectors such as service robots, logistics robots, autonomous mobile robots (AMR), and automated guided vehicles (AGV).
To advance its business structure, the company is also undertaking organization-wide efforts to enhance asset efficiency and proactively improve its financial structure. The liquidity secured from the disposal of non-core assets and fund-raising efforts will be concentrated on R&D for robotics and electric vehicle motors, as well as the establishment of global production bases.
