Each category champion receives an official champion record certificate issued by the Korea Paper Airplane Association, as well as awards such as the "Jinju Mayor's Award," "Air Force Education and Training Commander's Award," and "Jinju Office of Education Superintendent's Award."
This year, the contest has been organized so that families can enjoy the event together. The newly introduced "Relay Flight" event requires a parent and child to cooperate—after the child throws a paper airplane, the parent picks it up and throws it again for a team relay. The aim is for families to take on this special challenge together and make lasting memories. Early registration, which started on September 21, closed in just three hours. The contest will be held in three categories, including distance, duration, and relay events.
To ease the disappointment for those eliminated during the preliminary rounds, a "special event match" is also planned. This unique match is played by flying paper airplanes in a way different from the regular events, providing participants with an extended opportunity to enjoy the excitement of flight.
The contest management system has been further refined, and the range of awards has been expanded. The elementary school division is now split into lower and upper grades, reflecting physical differences and skill levels by age and enhancing fairness. The "Jinju Office of Education Superintendent's Award," one of the highest honors, has been increased from four to seven recipients.
A variety of paper-based experiential programs have also been prepared. The newly launched "Paper Camp" this year lets participants make their own paper tables and paper sun visors, which are useful for outdoor excursions. Other hands-on events include the "Lucky Pulp Capsule Drawing Challenge," which uses Moorim's natural pulp, a "Photo Booth" with instant printing, the event's signature "Eco-Friendly Paper Pool," and a "Paper Airplane Triathlon."
The event is designed to let participants experience the resource circulation value of paper. Participants can dispose of misfolded or used paper airplanes in the "Paper Airplane ZERO Collection Box" inside the stadium. Collected paper airplanes will be delivered to recycling companies to be reused as resources. Food trucks near the stadium will use Moorim's eco-friendly pulp molds instead of plastic containers and offer paper wet wipes.
Currently, registration has closed for all categories, but additional on-site registration will be available on a first-come, first-served basis on the day of the event. For more details, visit the contest website.
