Suwon City Operates Urban Policy Citizen Planning Group to Discuss Urban Policies and More
Suwon City in Gyeonggi Province will begin recruiting citizens to participate in the "Urban Policy Citizen Planning Group" from October 1 to 23, 2026.
Anyone who either lives in Suwon or whose workplace or school is located in Suwon is eligible to apply. Youth can also participate and are encouraged to freely propose ideas about Suwon’s urban policies and future.
Citizens wishing to participate can apply through a Naver Form (by scanning the promotional QR code) or via Saebittoktok (application reception). Applications can also be submitted in person or by mail (to the Urban Planning Division at Suwon City Hall).
Launched in 2012 with the purpose of "Suwon’s future, created by the citizens’ hands," Suwon’s Urban Policy Citizen Planning Group is a representative governance body for Suwon City, where major urban policies and issues are discussed and directions for Suwon’s development are proposed.
Based on collecting and discussing citizens’ opinions, the group presents a vision for Suwon’s future as envisioned by its residents. Members are selected through public recruitment and recommendations from civic groups, and the group consists of citizens, city council members, civic groups, students, and experts.
The group has discussed major issues in Suwon, including establishing the legally mandated Suwon Urban Master Plan, the creation of Yeongheung Park, and the opening timing of Lotte Mall (now Time Villas Suwon). Last year, a forum was held under the theme "What Are the Strategies to Complete Suwon Free Economic Zone?" and opinions were exchanged.
This year, discussions will be held under the theme, "Designing Suwon as a Global Cultural Tourism City." The 2026 group roundtable will take place on November 4 at 3 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom of Ramada Hotel Suwon.
