Ministry Notifies Hong of Dismissal on September 30
Hong Moonpyo, President of Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT), was dismissed from his post on September 30. The decision was made after a duty audit revealed issues such as the personal use of company vehicles and floral arrangements intended for business purposes. As a result, aT has entered an emergency management system.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs on October 1, the ministry officially notified aT of President Hong's dismissal on September 30.

View original imageAn official from the ministry stated, "In April this year, following instructions from the Presidential Office, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs conducted a duty audit. Issues were found such as requiring the company driver to work outside official hours including weekends, personal use of business vehicles and floral arrangements, and attendance issues. Therefore, notification of dismissal was issued on September 30."
A duty audit is conducted to examine whether executives and employees of the targeted institution have violated their duty obligations, committed misconduct, or have attendance-related issues. Based on the results of the audit, Minister Song Miryung of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs recommended President Hong's dismissal to the President, who approved the decision.

President Hong was appointed as the 20th president during the Yoon Suk-yeol administration on August 20, 2024. Although his term was for three years, he was removed from office with 11 months remaining. Following his dismissal, aT has entered an emergency management system, with Executive Vice President Kim Changkuk serving as acting president and carrying out related duties.
