Ministry of Culture to Hold Meeting for Social Enterprises in the Culture Sector... Minister’s Award for Busanjingu Sports Club
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will hold a meeting on October 1 at Sangyeonjae in Jung-gu, Seoul, with representatives of social enterprises in the cultural sector, and present Minister’s awards to outstanding companies.
The purpose of this meeting is to encourage social enterprises that have taken the lead in realizing social value through innovative projects, including the provision of social services, job creation, and community contribution.
Representatives from eight social enterprises will attend the event to share their own success stories and discuss the practical challenges they face in running their businesses, as well as their expectations of the government.
In addition, the Ministry will present the Minister’s Award to Busanjingu Sports Club, which was selected as an outstanding company through a public competition and evaluation. Busanjingu Sports Club was recognized for its contributions to regional sports welfare, including providing sports services to disadvantaged groups, creating local jobs, and establishing a system to foster student athletes in the region.
The Ministry will also accept applications for the ‘2026 Designation of Prospective Social Enterprises in the Culture, Sports, and Tourism Sector’ through the Social Enterprise Integrated Business Management System until October 20. Since 2019, the Ministry has designated such prospective social enterprises in order to foster organizations specialized in the cultural sector. Any business whose main purpose is to achieve a social goal and that has an organizational form in accordance with Article 8 of the ‘Social Enterprise Promotion Act’ can apply.
Once designated as a prospective social enterprise, the status is maintained for three years from the date of designation. The companies are eligible for specialized support, such as extra points when applying to the Ministry’s startup support programs in culture, arts, sports, tourism, and content sectors. In addition, they become eligible for various financial, business management, and market expansion support programs provided by the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
