The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education held the "Mobile Superintendent’s Office" town hall meeting for parents at Giheung Middle School in Yongin on September 30.
This town hall meeting was organized so that the Superintendent could directly visit all 31 cities and counties in the province, hear about local educational issues and a variety of opinions on-site, and seek out the future direction of Gyeonggi education together with the community.
Following the first event held in Hwaseong and Osan on September 17, this second session was attended by local parents, National Assemblyman Lee Sang-sik, Gyeonggi Provincial Assemblywoman Jeon Ja-young, Yongin City Councilman Lim Hyun-soo, along with 10 provincial and city council members from Yongin, and 11 head principals representing the District Principals' Association, among others. During the following Q&A session, participants raised a variety of real-world questions, including: ▲ Difficulties in operating experiential learning programs and the burden placed on teachers ▲ Ways to establish an AI education system with no digital divide ▲ Expansion of RAS (Robot and AI Skills) education within the regular curriculum ▲ Measures to respond to the evolving types of school violence spreading across online and media spaces.
Superintendent An explained the ongoing institutional reforms to reduce teachers’ workloads associated with running experiential learning, as well as the direction for building an AI education system currently being prepared in collaboration with the AI Education Committee. He also introduced examples of RAS education initiatives, such as integrating instrument education into the curriculum, and said that in response to school violence, not only after-the-fact interventions but also educational approaches to restore student relationships and foster a healthy school culture through reading, arts, and sports activities would be strengthened.
