KB Kookmin Bank announced on September 30 that it has completed the procurement of a total of 4.3742 trillion won in financing as the lead arranger for the Greater Seoul Metropolitan Express Railway (GTX) Line C private investment project, and has signed a financial agreement with the project operating company, GTXC Co., Ltd., on September 29.
This project is a metropolitan transportation network construction plan with a total length of 86.46 kilometers and 14 stations, connecting Deokjeong Station in Yangju, Gyeonggi Province, passing through Uijeongbu, Seoul Cheongnyangni, Samseong, Yangjae, and extending to Suwon Station. Upon completion, travel time from Deokjeong Station to Samseong Station will be reduced to 30 minutes, and to Suwon Station to 55 minutes.
Nineteen financial institutions are participating in this project, with 3.13 trillion won being raised through senior loans and an additional 1.2442 trillion won being raised via equity capital and subordinated, mezzanine, and other fund arrangements.
KB Kookmin Bank has been participating as the lead arranger since 2020 and has secured a guarantee amounting to 1.5 trillion won from the Industrial Infrastructure Credit Guarantee Fund—the largest in the Fund's history. KB Kookmin Bank also applied a perpetual closed-end fund structure to some of the funds to mitigate risk and encourage participation from financial institutions.
