Sancheong County Extends Recruitment for 'Half-Price Flex Travel' in Connection with Korean Medicine and Herbal Medicine Festival
Travel Registration for October Extended Until the 11th
Advance Approval Required at Least Two Days Before Departure
50% of Local Travel Expenses Refunded via Mobile Sancheong Sarang Gift Certificates
Sancheong County, South Gyeongsang Province, has extended the recruitment period for participants in the "Sancheong Half-Price Flex Travel" to coincide with the 26th Sancheong Korean Medicine and Herbal Medicine Festival.
On September 30, the county announced that it would extend the advance application period for October travel participants, which was initially set until September 30, to October 11.
This extension aims to increase opportunities for tourists to participate in the program by linking it with the 26th Sancheong Korean Medicine and Herbal Medicine Festival, which will be held in the Donguibogam Village area from October 2 to 11.
The "Sancheong Half-Price Flex Travel" program refunds 50% of recognized expenses spent on accommodations, food, and tourism in Sancheong to visiting tourists in the form of mobile Sancheong Sarang Gift Certificates, according to the support criteria.
Tourists wishing to participate in the program must apply in advance through the "Sancheong Half-Price Flex Travel" website and receive approval at least two days before starting their trip. Therefore, if visiting during the festival period and planning to take part in the program, participants must check eligibility for application ahead of the actual travel date.
The county plans to offer local specialties and host participatory events for Half-Price Flex Travel participants visiting the festival venue.
During the festival, a variety of herbal medicine and herbal plant experiences will be available in Donguibogam Village, including free Korean medicine consultations and health advice at the Sancheong Hyeminseo, as well as herbal decoction demonstrations and tastings.
There will also be events tied to spending. For example, visitors who spend at least 50,000 won at the festival venue in a single day will receive a prize ticket, and a drawing will be held to award a golden longevity turtle.
In addition, activities such as a herbal plant treasure hunt, hands-on experience events, and markets selling herbs and local agricultural specialties will be available throughout the festival.
A Sancheong County official stated, "We have extended the application period for the Half-Price Flex Travel program to match the Korean Medicine and Herbal Medicine Festival," and added, "Tourists who wish to participate must apply and receive approval at least two days before the start of their trip."
The 26th Sancheong Korean Medicine and Herbal Medicine Festival will take place in the Donguibogam Village area from October 2 to 11.
The core purpose of Sancheong County’s "Half-Price Flex Travel" is to encourage tourist spending and overnight stays in the region by connecting these activities with the Korean Medicine and Herbal Medicine Festival.

Although 50% of travel expenses are refunded as mobile Sancheong Sarang Gift Certificates, advance application and approval are required, so participants must check eligibility in advance. It is also worth observing how much of the increased festival attendance translates into real local spending on accommodations, restaurants, and the purchase of local agricultural and specialty products.
