The board meeting brought together key members, including UN Secretary-General António Guterres and Sanda Ojiambo, Executive Director of the UNGC, to discuss the role of businesses in advancing sustainable development.
The UNGC is the world's largest corporate sustainability initiative, with more than 25,000 companies and organizations from over 100 countries participating. Based on 10 core principles across four areas—human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption—the UNGC supports companies in pursuing sustainable growth and responsible management.
During this visit, CEO Choi suggested exploring the use of Naver's digital and AI-based tools to strengthen collaboration within the UNGC's global network. This includes the Naver Cloud collaboration platform ‘Naver Works’ and Naver’s AI-based translation and interpretation service ‘Papago Plus.’
Naver plans to explore potential avenues for collaboration with the UNGC headquarters, the networks in more than 70 countries, and participating small and medium-sized enterprises. The company also aims to enhance cross-border collaboration and maximize operational efficiency using AI and digital technologies, with details such as the specific methods and timing of cooperation to be decided through further discussions.
CEO Choi stated, "To further empower UNGC activities, it is essential to establish an efficient system of collaboration that breaks down barriers between countries and regions. I hope that Naver’s AI and digital technologies will help drive the digital transformation of UNGC’s local networks and accelerate global communication."
