Ezetronics to Mass-Produce Core Power Conversion Units for Unmanned Reconnaissance Vehicles
Ezetronics will participate in the mass production phase of the core power conversion units for the Block-I unmanned reconnaissance vehicle.
According to Ezetronics on September 30, during the system development process that took place from 2023 to 2026, the company developed and validated three core power conversion units—MCU (Motor Control Unit), GCU (Generator Control Unit), and LDC (Low Voltage DC-DC Converter)—that are applied to the unmanned reconnaissance vehicle. Ezetronics plans to leverage the technology and the experience gained from testing and verification during the system development process to ensure stable product supply and quality during the mass production phase.
The unmanned reconnaissance vehicle is an unmanned ground system designed to conduct search, reconnaissance, and surveillance missions in hazardous areas in place of military personnel. To ensure stable maneuverability and mission performance, not only the drive system but also power conversion technology—which allows for stable control of onboard power generation and power supply—is critical.
The MCU developed by Ezetronics controls the vehicle’s drive motor and manages the power required for driving. The GCU regulates the generator’s output power and stably supplies high-voltage power to the vehicle’s power system, while the LDC converts high-voltage power to low voltage, supplying the necessary power to various electronic components and control systems.
Power conversion units used in military vehicles must withstand more demanding operational environments than those for regular vehicles. Beyond environmental factors such as temperature, vibration, and shocks, the stability of these systems is also required against electromagnetic interference, voltage fluctuations, and transient conditions that may occur within the vehicle’s power system.
Ezetronics conducted MIL-related environmental tests, electromagnetic compatibility tests, and power characteristic tests to validate the performance and reliability of its products in accordance with the requirements applied during this system development. Through these efforts, the company has established its design and development capabilities for power conversion units tailored to the unique operational environment and power system characteristics of military vehicles.

An Ezetronics official stated, “From the system development stage in 2023, we have developed the MCU, GCU, and LDC in line with the vehicle’s operational environment and required performance, and have carried out a variety of tests and verifications. Based on the design and verification expertise accumulated during the system development process, we will continue to ensure stable quality and supply systems as we move into the mass production phase.”
