[Breaking] Sohee Lee and Baek Hana Win Women's Badminton Doubles Gold at Asian Games After 24 Years
The women's doubles badminton team of Hana Baek and Sohee Lee, ranked second in the world, reclaimed the Asian Games gold medal in women's doubles after 24 years by defeating the top-ranked Chinese duo of Liu Shengshu and Tan Ning.
On September 29, at the Ichinomiya City Gymnasium in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, Baek and Lee won the women's doubles final at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. After a fierce battle lasting nearly 1 hour and 50 minutes, they overcame China's world No. 1 team of Liu Shengshu and Tan Ning with a score of 2-1 (26-28, 21-18, 21-18).
At the 2022 Hangzhou Games, Lee and Baek took the silver medal after losing 0-2 (18-21, 17-21) to China's Chen Qingchen and Jia Yifan. This time, however, they clinched gold by defeating the world No. 1 Chinese duo.
