Even “Failed Photos” with Closed Eyes or Blurry Shots Become T-Shirts... Unique Fall Travel Event
Culture and Tourism Ministry, Korea Tourism Organization Launch "100x100" Attractions Events in October
Travel Along Sunsets, Foliage, Ancient Trees, and Mountains... "Every Nook and Cranny Pet Tour" Coming in November
Photos where your eyes are closed, the shot is blurry, or the background is perfectly blocked. Images that you would normally delete as “failed travel photos” will be turned into unique T-shirts this fall. The “stamp rally” style trip, where participants visit and certify attractions around the country, is also making a comeback.

From next month 1st to November 1st, an event will be held nationwide under four themes: sunset drives, silver grass and autumn foliage trail running, finding old trees, and conquering K-Mountain, where participants visit and verify sites from the 'Discover Korea’s 100×100 Attractions' campaign. The “100×100” project allows the public to directly discover new domestic travel destinations. About 40,000 people voted, resulting in the selection of 9,883 attractions (excluding duplicates, 6,336 unique destinations).
First, the “Pro Wanderer's Challenge”—which ran last summer—is returning with its autumn edition. From October 1 to November 1, for one month, participants will explore nationwide attractions along sunsets, autumn foliage, silver grass, ancient trees, and mountains.
There are four themes in total: the “Sunset Autumn Healing Drive,” running along silver grass and autumn foliage paths across the country, searching for ancient trees rich with history and stories, and “Conquering K-Mountains,” which involves visiting fall mountains and trees. Participants can choose their preferred theme, find the corresponding 100×100 attractions, and verify their visit on site.
An additional event takes advantage of “failed photos” from trips. From October 1 to 30, the “Funny-and-Sad Travel Photo Festival” will be held, where participants can submit amusing photos taken at 100×100 attractions along with a brief story to enter.
This event is the opposite of submitting a perfectly taken “lifetime shot.” Instead, entries such as photos where eyes are closed, blurry shots, or images where the intended scenery is perfectly blocked—photos that would usually be deleted—are encouraged.
The Korea Tourism Organization will select 50 top participants and present them with “Funny-and-Sad Travel Photo Goods T-shirts” printed with their submitted photos.
Follow-up events are also planned. Starting in November, programs linked to the 100×100 attractions—such as the “Every Nook and Cranny Pet Tour” for households traveling with pets—will be introduced.

Kim Seok, Director of Domestic Tourism at the Korea Tourism Organization, said, “100×100 is a project that introduces a wide variety of attractions, chosen directly by the public, as new travel options. This fall, rather than just visiting popular destinations and heading home, I hope people will join the stamp rally, collect unexpected photos, and discover new places in their own unique way.”
