KOSPI and KOSDAQ Weaken Together as Foreign Investors Sell

In early trading on September 29, the domestic stock market weakened as foreign investors engaged in net selling, pushing down the indices.
As of 9:15 a.m. on this day, the KOSPI index was trading at 6,876.43, down 13.31 points (0.19%) from the previous trading day. The index opened at 6,844.41, which was a decrease of 45.33 points (0.66%) from the previous day, but pared some of its losses in early trading, fluctuating around the 6,870 level.
By investor group, foreign investors recorded a net selling of 442.5 billion won, putting downward pressure on the index. In contrast, individual investors and institutions recorded a net buying of 247.3 billion won and 126.9 billion won, respectively.
By industry, there were declines in construction (-2.99%), general services (-2.19%), metals (-1.85%), insurance (-1.71%), chemicals (-1.57%), transportation equipment and parts (-1.53%), pharmaceuticals (-1.47%), paper and wood (-1.38%), and telecommunications (-1.36%). On the other hand, electrical and electronics (0.48%) and medical precision equipment (0.26%) sectors showed gains.

However, LG Energy Solution (-2.88%), Samsung Life Insurance (-2.70%), Kia (-2.47%), Doosan Enerbility (-2.32%), HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (-2.26%), Samsung SDI (-2.06%), Samsung Biologics (-1.86%), Hyundai Motor Company (-1.41%), and Shinhan Financial Group (-1.08%) recorded declines.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ index was trading at 840.66, down 5.92 points (0.70%) from the previous trading day. The index had opened at 843.87, down 2.71 points (0.32%) from the previous day. Foreign investors and institutions were net sellers of 57.3 billion won and 70.1 billion won respectively, while individuals alone recorded a net buying of 141 billion won.

Among large-cap KOSDAQ stocks, HLB surged 7.93%, while semiconductor and robotics equipment stocks such as TES (4.69%), PSK Holdings (3.18%), TSE (3.07%), EO Technics (2.56%), ROBOTIS (2.13%), HPSP (1.96%), Jusung Engineering (1.67%), and Leeno Industrial (1.26%) showed strength. In contrast, secondary battery and biotech leaders such as EcoPro BM (-4.04%), EcoPro (-2.93%), Alteogen (-2.77%), Samchundang Pharm (-2.28%), and Rainbow Robotics (-0.95%) showed weakness.
