Mirae Asset Leads Individual Net Purchases with 'TIGER US S&P500 ETF' Ranking No.1 This Year
Mirae Asset Global Investments' S&P500 tracking exchange-traded fund (ETF) has maintained its position as the number one ETF listed in Korea in terms of net individual purchases, surpassing 4.8 trillion won since the beginning of the year.
On September 29, Mirae Asset Global Investments announced that its 'TIGER US S&P500' ETF ranked first among all ETFs listed in Korea by net individual purchases since the start of the year. If it continues to hold the top spot through this year, following its performance in 2024 and 2025, it will achieve the number one ranking in individual net purchases for three consecutive years.
According to the Korea Exchange, as of September 28, the net individual purchase amount for the TIGER US S&P500 ETF since the beginning of the year totaled 4.8611 trillion won. This figure exceeds the combined net individual purchases (3.1618 trillion won) for all other domestic ETFs tracking the same S&P500 index. While individual funds were mainly flowing into domestic semiconductor-related leveraged products during the first half of the year, in the second half, the demand for investment in US benchmark index ETFs soared, resulting in a significant increase in net individual purchases. Since July 1 alone, net individual purchases totaled 1.6727 trillion won, ranking number one, and the most recent one-month period (August 31–September 28) also recorded the highest figure at 447.4 billion won.
The reasons for this trend of individual funds flowing into US benchmark index ETFs include the benefits of diversification and increased demand for long-term investment. The US benchmark index offers diversification across a wide range of sectors and companies, and the TIGER US S&P500 ETF can be held in pension savings and retirement pension accounts, thereby supporting ongoing long-term investment demand. Even during periods of market adjustment, sustained individual net buying has provided a foundation for continued inflows based on long-term investment strategies.
Listed in August 2020, the TIGER US S&P500 ETF reached 2 trillion won in net assets in September 2023, 10 trillion won in October 2025, and surpassed 20 trillion won in July this year. Setting the record for the shortest time to reach 20 trillion won among all domestic ETFs, it has established itself as a key investment vehicle for local investors seeking long-term exposure to the US benchmark index.
