The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, led by Superintendent An Minseok, has declared a transformation in reading education to foster the ability to think and ask questions—skills deemed essential for students in the age of AI.

View original imageOn September 28, the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education held the "Gyeonggi Reading Education Grand Transformation Proclamation Ceremony," attended by about 700 participants, including students, parents, teachers, community education members, and reading education officials. The event’s aim was to ensure that reading, which begins at school, is carried over into the home and the wider community, thereby becoming a part of students’ daily lives.
The event, themed "Imagination and Questions That Begin in Books," featured a book exhibition, a teachers’ orchestra performance, and a vision talk on reading education. Superintendent An Minseok, poet An Do-hyeon, as well as representatives of students, teachers, and parents, shared opinions on the significance of reading in the AI era and the future direction of education.
Representatives of students, teachers, parents, education offices, and local government leaders, together with Superintendent An, read a vision statement and pledged to work together to expand reading education.
