On this day, the participants made sequential visits to the construction site of the district’s first residential village and the on-site soil contamination remediation area to check the status of the work. They also sought various ways for cooperative measures among the relevant agencies to ensure that there would be no delays in the move-in schedule.
At the site, Mayor Sun emphasized, “For Changneung New Town to develop into a competitive central city in the northwestern Seoul metropolitan area with self-sustaining features, rather than simply a commuter town, it is essential to expand the metropolitan transportation network and secure land for self-supporting functions. We will actively consult with relevant agencies to enable the early opening of Changneung Station on the GTX-A line and expand bus routes, and I urge everyone to work together so that self-sustaining land is utilized according to its intended purpose.”
After touring the soil remediation site, Mayor Sun also stated, “During the soil contamination remediation process, please ensure thorough management and safety measures so that residents in the surrounding areas—including Deogeun Elementary School—are not exposed to environmental or safety risks.”
After completing the inspection, the Goyang city government delivered a policy proposal to Gyeonggi Province to ensure the successful development of Changneung New Town and resolve major local issues.
