Briefing on the Emergency Committee Meeting on the 28th
The Emergency Response Committee of the Reform New Party is accelerating its efforts for party renewal by launching the Special Committee on Organizational Reinforcement (Jokang Special Committee). While working to reorganize the party structure to solidify its strategy for establishing a base in the southern Gyeonggi region ahead of the upcoming general election, the committee also decided to reach a conclusion regarding Assemblyman Chun Haram's candidacy for the next election district by next month.
On the 28th, the Emergency Response Committee of the Reform New Party announced that Jeon Sunggyun, the party’s secretary-general, was appointed as the chairman of the Jokang Special Committee, with Joo Isaac and Lee Eun-chang each selected as committee members.

Previously, Chairman Lee announced a party reform proposal and recommended that incumbent legislators, Assemblyman Chun and Assemblyman Lee Jooyoung, run for election in the southern Gyeonggi region. However, Assemblyman Chun, who has built his political base in Suncheon, Jeollanam-do, requested that the party reconsider, saying it would be difficult for him to give up his base.
Regarding discussions with Assemblyman Chun, Chairman Lee stated, "We are communicating separately," and continued, "Considering the fatigue of supporters and party members watching this situation, I think we need to reach a conclusion within October."
In his remarks that day, Chairman Lee also delivered critical comments targeting the decline in the approval rating of the Lee Jaemyung administration. He said, "How long will the people have to evaluate this government only by comparing it to the Yoon Suk-yeol administration?" and "Anger over the martial law cannot justify or forgive today’s incompetence and unfairness."
