Connecting the Festival and Subway System
Busan Transportation Corporation is taking measures such as increasing train frequency and expanding safety personnel to ensure that visitors to the Busan International Rock Festival can conveniently use the city's subway system.
On September 28, Busan Transportation Corporation (Acting President Park Myungdo) announced that it had established safe transportation measures, including increased train operations, ahead of the '2026 Busan International Rock Festival,' which will be held for three days from October 2 to 4 at Samnak Ecological Park in Sasang-gu, Busan.
The Busan International Rock Festival is the longest-running international rock festival in Korea, having been held annually since it first launched in 2000. This year, 99 teams from both Korea and abroad, ranging from top-tier global headliners to emerging artists, will take the stage.
Last year, the festival drew approximately 75,000 visitors from Korea and overseas. This year, with tickets for the second and third days of the festival already sold out, a large number of attendees are expected to visit Samnak Ecological Park during the event.
The corporation will operate four additional trains per day on Busan Metro Line 2 between 9:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., when most visitors are expected to return home, for a total of 12 additional trips over three days. Additional safety personnel will be stationed at stations near the venue to help maintain order, provide on-site guidance, and support the safe movement of attendees.
On-site content will also be prepared to link the festival with the subway system. Under the slogan “There is no door to get off the Busan-bound Extreme Rock Train,” the corporation will operate a promotional booth at the festival venue and hold participatory events, such as offering souvenirs to visitors who verify their use of the Busan Metro.
During intermissions, videos promoting subway use will be broadcast at the venue. The purpose is to naturally encourage festivalgoers to use public transportation for their return home after enjoying the event.
The nearby Sasang Station on Busan Metro Line 2 will also be decorated to reflect the rock festival atmosphere. Starting at the end of September, themed spaces featuring the artist lineup and festival imagery will be set up at Sasang Station so that visitors can experience the festival atmosphere from the station all the way to the venue.
