Hyundai Motor Company and Kia have achieved cumulative sales of 15 million recreational vehicles (RVs) in the United States, the world's largest automotive market, 22 years after entering the market.
According to Hyundai Motor Company and Kia on September 28, cumulative RV sales in the U.S. since their entry in 1994 reached a total of 15,067,646 units as of last month. Of these, Hyundai Motor Company, including its premium brand Genesis, sold 7,059,566 units, while Kia recorded 8,000,880 units.
Hyundai Motor Company and Kia reached 1 million cumulative RV sales in the United States by 2005, 11 years after their entry, and surpassed 10 million units in 2022.
By expanding their RV lineup to include models like Santa Fe, Tucson, Sorento, Sportage, and Telluride, as well as launching eco-friendly vehicles such as the IONIQ 5 and EV6, Hyundai Motor Company and Kia have strengthened their product competitiveness. As a result, annual sales have been steadily increasing since 2017, with more than 1 million units sold each year since 2022.
In 2026, RV sales between January and August reached 936,789 units, maintaining upward momentum and putting the companies on track to surpass last year's sales of 1,387,145 units, setting a new record high.
Among Hyundai Motor Company and Kia's RVs, the best-selling model in the U.S. market is the Santa Fe, with total sales of 2,595,159 units. The Tucson follows with 2,227,154 units, Sorento at 1,981,991 units, Sportage at 1,952,129 units, and the Soul with 1,563,607 units. Notably, the Sorento and Sportage are both on the verge of reaching 2 million cumulative sales this year.
With a robust RV lineup and strong product quality, Hyundai Motor Company and Kia are accelerating their local market strategy. Currently, they offer a total of 21 RV models in the United States—11 from Hyundai Motor Company and 10 from Kia.
Since 2023, the Tucson has established itself as a volume model—one of the best-selling in the lineup—selling more than 200,000 units annually. The Santa Fe, Palisade, Sportage, and Telluride also record annual sales of over 100,000 units each.
Looking ahead, Hyundai Motor Company plans to further strengthen its competitiveness by launching the GV80 Hybrid, Genesis’s first hybrid model, and the Santa Fe EREV (Extended Range Electric Vehicle) in the U.S. market. The company also plans to introduce the fifth-generation fully redesigned model, the “All-New Tucson.”
