Traded Stocks 1,152 Times in a Month, Managed $365 Million... Nonstop Activity in the U.S. President's Account
1,152 Transactions—Surpassing All U.S. Lawmakers Combined
Includes SpaceX, RTX, and More... Ongoing Conflict of Interest Concerns
Asset managers for U.S. President Donald Trump executed a total of 1,152 financial asset transactions in July alone, averaging nearly 50 trades per day.
According to major foreign media outlets such as CNN and the Guardian on the 22nd, the asset disclosure released that day revealed that, on July 20, Amazon and Microsoft (MS) shares were each sold in ranges of 5 million to 25 million dollars (approximately 6.78 billion to 33.9 billion won). On the same day, shares of Oracle and Costco were each sold for up to 5 million dollars, and Nvidia shares were disposed of in the range of 500,000 to 1 million dollars (up to approximately 1.36 billion won). Shares of the software companies Intuit and Salesforce were each purchased for up to 5 million dollars, respectively.
Over the course of the entire month of July, more than 700 sale transactions were made, resulting in the disposal of assets within the range of 35 million to 137 million dollars. There were more than 440 purchase transactions, totaling 43.5 million to 134 million dollars (up to about 181.7 billion won) invested. In short, the combined value of purchases and sales reached as much as 270 million dollars (approximately 365 billion won).
Bloomberg's analysis shows that since the start of Trump's second term in January last year, he and his asset managers have carried out as many as 28,000 trades, exceeding the combined total number of trades made by all U.S. federal senators and representatives.
In particular, President Trump did not place his assets in a blind trust, making it possible to identify which stocks his asset managers are buying and selling. His transactions have included shares of space company SpaceX and defense contractor RTX, both of which have business relationships with the federal government. This has led to ongoing controversy regarding potential conflicts of interest.
According to CNN, there have been confirmed cases in which President Trump promoted companies on Truth Social only days after purchasing stocks of more than 20 companies.
However, the White House stated that President Trump is not involved in individual investment decisions. Davis Ingle, a White House spokesperson, emphasized, "President Trump's stock and bond portfolios are managed independently by a third-party financial institution," and added, "Neither President Trump nor any member of his family can give instructions or exert influence over investment methods or the timing of purchases and sales."

Meanwhile, former presidents Joe Biden and Barack Obama did not trade individual stocks while in office, and their investment portfolios were primarily composed of mutual funds and Treasury bonds. While presidents are legally allowed to trade stocks, they must disclose the date of each transaction and the transaction amount range within 45 days after each trade.
