Korea Citibank Recommends Kim Joungho, Executive Vice President of Corporate Finance, as Next CEO Candidate
Following Park Jin-hwe and Yoo Myung-soon,
Third Consecutive CEO Candidate from Corporate Finance Group
Kim Joungho, Executive Vice President of the Corporate Finance Group, has been recommended as the next CEO candidate of Korea Citibank.
On September 23, Korea Citibank announced that the Executive Candidate Recommendation Committee held a meeting the previous day and recommended Executive Vice President Kim as the final candidate. The next CEO will be officially appointed through the board of directors and a general meeting of shareholders on the 27th of next month.
Executive Vice President Kim joined Citibank in 2001 and is recognized as an expert in corporate finance, having served as Head of the Corporate Banking Department, Head of Financial Institutions Sales, and Executive Vice President of the Corporate Finance Group at Korea Citibank.
By recommending Executive Vice President Kim as the next CEO candidate following former CEO Park Jin-hwe and current CEO Yoo Myung-soon, Korea Citibank continues its tradition of appointing the head of the Corporate Finance Group as CEO. Since Korea Citibank decided to withdraw from consumer finance, corporate finance has become its core business, and Executive Vice President Kim’s expertise in the field appears to have been a significant factor in his selection.
The Committee explained, “We selected Executive Vice President Kim as the final candidate after comprehensively considering his mid- to long-term management vision and strategy, internal and external communication and leadership capabilities, management skills and expertise, and insight into the financial industry.”
