KOSPI Opens Above 7,100 Mark... Gains Over 1%
KOSDAQ Expands Early Gains
On September 23, the KOSPI index began trading above the 7,100 mark. In intraday trading, the KOSDAQ index also expanded its gains, rising more than 1%.
As of 9:13 a.m. on the same day, the KOSPI was trading at 7,129.23, up 1.59% from the previous session at the Korea Exchange. Earlier in the session, the KOSPI opened at 7,153.99, an increase of 1.94% compared to the previous day.

View original imageWhile individual investors have been taking profits, foreign investors and institutions are leading the upward trend with their net purchases. Individuals have sold 593.8 billion won, whereas foreign investors have bought a net 332.3 billion won and institutions a net 207.7 billion won.
Most sectors are also showing upward momentum. The following are some of the percentage increases by sector: electrical and electronics 2.16%, medical and precision instruments 2.47%, chemicals 1.80%, manufacturing 1.77%, financials 1.12%, retail 1.13%, paper and forestry 0.80%, securities 0.66%, telecommunications 0.34%, insurance 0.46%, and transportation and storage 0.32%. Some sectors, such as construction (down 3.27%) and machinery and equipment (down 0.94%), are declining.
Among the largest stocks by market capitalization, the rising stocks include Samsung Electronics (up 2.5%), SK hynix (up 1.8%), SK Square (up 3.8%), Samsung Electro-Mechanics (up 1.6%), LG Energy Solution (up 2.1%), Hyundai Motor (up 0.5%), Samsung C&T (up 2.1%), and Samsung Life Insurance (up 1.5%). In contrast, Samsung Biologics (down 0.6%) and KB Financial Group (down 0.1%) have declined.
The KOSDAQ index started the session at 841.73, up 0.88% from the previous day, and is currently rising further to 845.21, a gain of 1.30%.
A different supply and demand pattern is being observed compared to the KOSPI. Individual investors have net purchased 70.6 billion won, while foreign investors and institutions have net sold 46.9 billion won and 15.0 billion won, respectively.

Except for Leeno Industrial (down 1.2%), all of the top KOSDAQ market cap stocks are rising. Notable gainers include Alteogen (up 1.0%), Ecopro (up 1.2%), Ecopro BM (up 1.3%), Jusung Engineering (up 1.4%), Rainbow Robotics (up 1.3%), Wonik IPS (up 7.1%), EO Technics (up 0.6%), Simmtech (up 2.0%), and HPSP (up 2.2%).
