Gwangyang Steelworks Boosts Local Economy by Shopping at Traditional Markets
Executives and Employees Purchase Groceries and Food Ahead of Chuseok
From September 14 to September 21, ahead of the Chuseok holiday, POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks visited local traditional markets such as the Gwangyang 5-day Market and the Okgok 5-day Market to help revitalize the local economy.
This initiative aimed to invigorate traditional markets and boost the local economy by having Gwangyang Steelworks employees visit the markets in person and purchase groceries, thereby helping increase the income of small business owners.

Throughout several visits before the holiday began, departments such as the Administration & Public Relations Group, the HR & Labor Group, the Safety & Disaster Prevention Group, and the Equipment Investment Group visited different traditional markets in the area.
On September 21, during the traditional market visit event, Gwangyang Steelworks, together with Gwangyang City and the Gwangyang Steelworks Partners Association, visited the Gwangyang 5-day Market to reaffirm their commitment to coexistence with the local community.
Participants not only purchased groceries needed for the holiday, but also bought local agricultural products and food sold at the market, leading efforts to increase the use of traditional markets.
A Gwangyang Steelworks representative stated, "Amid difficult economic conditions, we hoped to offer some support to citizens and merchants who are struggling, which is why we organized a traditional market visit event involving all employees.
