International Standard Certification for Managing AI Development and Operations

Establishing Risk Management and Accountability Structures

AI Functions of "Booster Pro X2" Also Certified for Safety

APR has become the first company in the beauty industry to simultaneously obtain two international certifications related to artificial intelligence (AI). The company was recognized both for its AI management system and for the reliability of the AI applied to actual products.

On September 22, APR announced that it recently acquired both the "ISO/IEC 42001 (AI Management System)" certification from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), as well as the "AI Trust Mark" from Nemko, an international certification body based in Norway. According to APR, it is the first beauty company in the world to hold both certifications.

The ISO/IEC 42001 certification evaluates whether a company has established a management system for controlling risks and opportunities associated with AI systems, and for ensuring the responsible development, provision, and use of AI. For the certification, APR established a framework of 46 types of documents across 7 layers, covering everything from the planning to the disposal phases of its AI-based personalized care service and AI systems. The company also formalized management responsibilities for executives and set up an operational structure for practical teams to identify, assess, and respond to risks.

APR integrated its existing ISO 9001 quality management system and Information Security Management System (ISMS) records into the process. This approach allows for comprehensive management across both AI governance and existing management and information security systems, rather than operating the AI management system independently.

The AI Trust Mark certifies the reliability and safety of AI as applied in actual products. APR received this certification for the AI care mode of its Medicube AGE-R "Booster Pro X2."

This function analyzes skin condition and accumulated usage history to recommend personalized care routines and stimulation intensity. APR adopted a hybrid structure that does not rely on the output of a single AI model and designed the system so that recommended intensity and time always fall within a predetermined safe range. If a system malfunction occurs, control automatically switches to a rule-based method. The AI only makes recommendations, while the user retains control over the final settings.

Based on these certifications, APR plans to continue incorporating AI into its beauty devices, expanding customized care services that reflect individual skin conditions and usage histories.

An APR representative stated, "This is significant not only because of the AI technology itself, but also because the company's management system for developing and operating AI, as well as the reliability of the AI applied to actual products, have been internationally validated."
