Seoul and Shanghai have established a foundation for cooperation aimed at advancing their commercial districts. On September 21, Lu San, Deputy Mayor of Shanghai, visited Seoul City Hall, where he met with Jeong Sanghoon, First Deputy Mayor of Seoul, to discuss ways to expand exchanges in the fields of economy and industry, culture and tourism, and youth affairs.
Since forming a friendship agreement in 2014, the two cities have maintained exchanges for over ten years in areas such as urban management, transportation, arts, tourism, and talent development. Although exchanges had dwindled due to COVID-19, the recent visit by the Deputy Mayor of Shanghai is expected to revitalize their cooperative efforts.

During his visit to Korea, Deputy Mayor Lu attended the "Shanghai Economic and Trade Investment Briefing" and toured the Myeong-dong commercial district, where he examined local consumption and tourism spots in person.
