Dermatology Clinic Head in Nonhyeon-dong Arrested for Illegal Propofol Administration to Over 20 Patients
Seoul Central District Court Issues Arrest Warrant
The head of a dermatology clinic in Gangnam, Seoul, was arrested on charges of habitually administering propofol to patients even when anesthesia was not required.
On September 21, Judge Lee Ji-young, who oversees warrants at the Seoul Central District Court, held a pretrial detention hearing for a man in his 30s, identified as Mr. A, who is suspected of violating the Narcotics Control Act. Judge Lee issued the warrant, citing concerns about the destruction of evidence.
Mr. A, who operates a dermatology clinic in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam, Seoul, is accused of administering propofol to patients beyond legitimate medical purposes such as anesthesia or sedation. It is reported that, from January of last year to last month, he illegally administered the drug to more than 20 patients in over 360 cases.
