Manager Collected on Behalf... Violation of Medical Service Act
The singer Psy (real name Park Jaesang) has received a summary order of a 5 million won fine on charges of obtaining psychotropic medication via remote prescription and having his manager collect it on his behalf.
According to the legal community on September 21, Choi Yejin, judge for summary proceedings at the Seoul Western District Court, recently issued a summary order of a 5 million won fine to Mr. Park, who was summarily indicted for violating the Medical Service Act.
Mr. Park is accused of receiving remote prescriptions for psychotropic drugs, such as sleep aids, from a university hospital in Seoul between February 2022 and July of last year, and of having his manager or a third party collect the medication on his behalf.
A summary order is a procedure in which relatively minor cases are judged without a formal trial based only on written documents, and a fine can be imposed. It has been reported that Mr. Park has not requested a formal trial so far. If one wishes to contest the summary order, a formal trial may be requested within seven days from the date the order is served.
