The "2026 Da Nang-Korea Future Cooperation Seminar" was held on the afternoon of September 19 at the Diamond Hall of the Swiss Grand Hotel in Seoul.

This seminar was organized to introduce Da Nang’s policies in science and technology and international finance, as well as the local business environment for Korean companies. The goal was to expand business exchanges and investment cooperation between Korea and Da Nang in future industries such as finance, advanced technologies, and eco-friendly technologies.

The event was attended by officials from Da Nang City—including the mayor, the Department of Finance of the People’s Committee, and the Department of Science and Technology—as well as representatives from the Embassy of Vietnam in Korea, the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Da Nang, and Korean companies and institutions in the finance, advanced technology, eco-friendly technology, and cultural sectors.

On the Korean side, former Assemblyman Hong Moonjong, Han Jeongil, Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Da Nang, Ha Eun Son, Chairman of the Korea AI Blockchain Association, Bom Foundation, and BOM TALK Super App, and executives from over 40 companies including those in the AI and blockchain fields, participated in the event.

During the seminar, officials from Da Nang presented the regional industrial environment and policy directions centered on science and technology and international finance, as well as the business and investment opportunities for Korean companies. In particular, they proposed measures to expand exchanges with Korean companies in future industries and to strengthen cooperation in technology and investment.

Ha Eun Son, Chairman of the Korea AI Blockchain Association, Bom Foundation, and BOM TALK Super App, proposed three areas for cooperation with Da Nang: ▲The establishment of AI and blockchain-based smart infrastructure and technological partnerships; ▲The creation of digital platforms and regional coexistence models based on public value; ▲The training of globally competitive advanced IT talent and nurturing of startups.

First, in the field of AI and blockchain, the proposal focused on leveraging the networks of relevant Korean companies and technologies to help modernize Da Nang’s smart administration and digital infrastructure. Convergent projects combining technologies that improve the reliability of logistics data and eco-friendly bio technology were also highlighted as potential collaboration areas.

The plan is to connect Korean AI and blockchain technologies and companies to the digital transformation initiatives pursued by Da Nang, creating a structure that enables not only technology exchange but also tangible business collaborations.

Strategies for building digital platforms that connect local small businesses and citizens were also discussed.

Based on the experience of operating the digital platform "BOM TALK Super App, M2M," led by Chairman Ha of the Bom Foundation, the feasibility of establishing a digital community platform tailored to Da Nang’s local economic structure and administrative environment was proposed.

This aims to activate local consumption and service use by connecting citizens, small businesses, and public services through digital platforms, thereby supporting citizen convenience and small business growth simultaneously as part of a coexistence model.

Fostering local talent and supporting startup development were also put forward as key cooperation areas.

The Korea AI Blockchain Association plans to collaborate with universities, research institutions, and companies in the Da Nang region to run practical education programs in AI and blockchain fields, with the aim of connecting local youth talent with Korean companies.

The goal is to create a structure in which education leads to recruitment, entrepreneurship, and corporate partnerships, thus expanding Da Nang’s technology workforce while offering Korean companies access to the local talent network they need for business development.

In the startup sector, discussions focused on linking the startup ecosystem in Da Nang with the technological networks of Korean companies through technology exchanges and joint business discoveries between young people and companies from both Korea and Vietnam.

Notably, this round of cooperation discussions aims to broaden the scope of industrial partnerships beyond AI and blockchain to include bio, eco-friendly technologies, and finance, combining Da Nang’s urban competitiveness with Korean technological capabilities.

Chairman Ha of the Bom Foundation stated, "Da Nang is expanding its industrial base beyond a tourism hub into digital transformation, innovative technologies, and smart city sectors, creating significant opportunities for cooperation with Korean companies." He added, "We will leverage the networks of the Korea AI Blockchain Association, BOM TALK Super App, and affiliated companies to develop concrete collaborative projects."

He further explained, "Our cooperation will go beyond technology partnerships, advancing together in areas such as digital platforms that share benefits with citizens and small businesses, talent development, and the nurturing of startups."

At the seminar, participants shared policies on science, technology, and finance in Da Nang as well as the business conditions facing Korean firms operating locally. They also explored possible fields for future project and investment collaborations between the two sides.

Corporate and institutional attendees from both Da Nang and Korea agreed to explore cooperation possibilities in individual sectors such as AI and blockchain, digital platforms, bio, eco-friendly technologies, finance, and talent development, with the aim of developing tangible business models in the future.

For Korean companies, this seminar offers opportunities to explore local market entry and technology cooperation in Da Nang, which is the key city in central Vietnam, while Da Nang is expected to use its connections with Korean advanced technologies and corporate networks to further its own industrial development.

The core challenge for this seminar is the specificity of actual projects rather than the breadth of exchanges. If Da Nang’s demand for digital transformation and Korean companies’ AI, blockchain, and bio technologies lead to real investments, joint projects, and local talent recruitment, the cooperation between the two sides could grow into a new inter-company linkage model for Korea-Vietnam future industrial collaboration, transcending simple technology exchange.
