Hwasun County Finalizes 59 Pledges for Ninth Administration... Bio-Industrial Complex and Metropolitan Railway to Move Forward
Hwasun County in South Jeolla Province announced on the 17th that it had finalized 59 pledged projects for the ninth popularly elected administration.
By field, educational welfare and culture, tourism and sports each account for 15 projects, the largest number. Industrial economy and regional development each have 8 projects, agriculture and rural areas have 7 projects, and self-governance administration includes 6 projects.
Major pledges include the early completion of the second Hwasun Bio-Pharmaceutical Industrial Complex, attracting biotech companies, the economic revitalization and development project for early coal mine closure areas, and the inclusion of the Gwangju~Hwasun metropolitan railway in the national plan.
Other initiatives involve opening the county governor's office to enhance communication with residents, support for small business owners, strengthening integrated care services, and developing medical foods using Hwasun's agricultural products.
Hwasun County finalized the list of pledges after each department reviewed the tasks proposed by the transition committee.
The county then held two briefing sessions to flesh out detailed action plans for each project. Projects ready for immediate implementation will begin within this year with detailed plans established, while budgets required for major initiatives will be reflected in next year's main budget.
The finalized pledges and details will be released on the county’s website. A citizen jury will be formed to monitor the implementation plans, and progress on the pledges will be evaluated annually.

Hwasun County Governor Lim Jirak stated, "A pledge is a promise to the residents," adding, "We will pursue these projects quickly and effectively to bring about changes that residents can truly feel."
