Samsung Electronics Super Enterprise Union Restructures Around DS Division...Two DX Executives Dismissed
96.3% Support for Rule Revision Allowing Only DS Division Employees to Join
The Samsung Electronics Branch of the Samsung Group Super Enterprise Labor Union is reorganizing its structure with a focus on the Device Solutions (DS) division, which is responsible for the company’s semiconductor business.
According to the results of the "5th General Assembly of 2026" announced by the Super Enterprise Labor Union on September 19, a proposal to revise the union’s rules so that only employees belonging to the DS division can join the union was approved by 27,618 out of 28,680 voters, or 96.3%. There were 1,062 votes against the proposal.

As a result, the existing Super Enterprise Labor Union, which previously covered both the DS and Device eXperience (DX, finished products) divisions, is being transformed into a union centered on the DS division. Following the revision of the rules, existing DX division union members are expected to be withdrawn from the union.
Votes of no confidence against two executives from the DX division were also approved.
The vote of no confidence against Vice Chairman Songyi Lee was passed with 27,441 votes in favor (95.7%) and 1,239 votes against. The vote of no confidence against Gwangju Chapter Head Wonil Lee was approved by 27,588 votes in favor (96.2%) and 1,092 votes against.
These votes of no confidence were introduced amid internal conflict within the Super Enterprise Labor Union.
Earlier, the union suspected that Vice Chairman Lee and Chapter Head Lee had reported to external parties that Chairman Seungho Choi had contracted with a company run by his father-in-law for supplies needed to prepare for rallies, leading to the votes of no confidence.
They also claimed that these two executives had discussed plans for Chairman Choi’s resignation to prevent the reorganization centered on the DS division.
With both the DS-centric reorganization plan and the votes of no confidence approved at this general assembly, the internal conflict over the performance-based bonus fund and the direction of union operations has entered a new phase.

During this year’s wage and collective bargaining negotiations, the Super Enterprise Labor Union clashed with other unions over the issue of integrated performance-based bonus distribution using the company's resources as a whole. Subsequently, the union announced that for next year’s negotiations, it would not pursue joint bargaining, and instead, would reorganize around the DS division.
