DGIST to Recruit 40 Sixth-Grade and First-Year Middle School Students in Dalseong-gun for Science Creativity School Admissions
The DGIST Convergence Education Institute (President: Lee Gunwoo) announced that it will be recruiting 40 freshmen for the 2027 academic year at the “DGIST Science Creativity School” from October 19 to November 20, in order to enhance the scientific inquiry skills of students in Dalseong-gun and to identify and foster future science and technology talent at an early stage.
The DGIST Science Creativity School is a science talent development program supported by Dalseong-gun that provides high-quality math and science education to local elementary and middle school students. Utilizing DGIST’s outstanding educational and research infrastructure and expert faculty, the program helps students deepen their interest in mathematics and science and develop creative problem-solving abilities. Both the application and tuition fees are fully waived.
Eligible applicants are current sixth-grade elementary or first-year middle school students in Dalseong-gun as of the application date. Sixth graders can apply for the “basic middle school course,” while first-year middle schoolers can apply for the “advanced middle school course.” Each course is offered in four fields: mathematics, physics, chemistry, and life sciences. Approximately five students will be selected from each field, with around 20 students for each course, for a total of 40 students. Applicants may choose only one field, and this year, the integrated math and integrated science courses for elementary students will not be offered through separate recruitment.

The selection process consists of three stages: document review, creative problem-solving test, and interview. The document review assesses self-directed learning ability, passion for math and science, and growth potential based on the applicant's personal statement and teacher’s recommendation letter. The results of the first stage will be announced on November 27. The creative problem-solving test and interviews will be conducted on December 12 at the DGIST Consilience Hall, and the final successful candidates will be announced on the website on December 18.
